Consular Chief at U.S. Embassy UzbekistanIan Turner is the Consular Chief at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent. Prior to his arrival in July 2024, Ian served as the American Citizen Services Unit Chief at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, China. Ian’s previously served in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; Minsk, Belarus; Ashgabat, Turkmenistan; Warsaw, Poland; Kingston, Jamaica, Almaty, Kazakhstan; and the Office of International Religious Freedom in Washington, D.C. Ian is joined by his wife, daughter, and very crazy Corgi. Ian likes to travel and collect Cold War-era militaria from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Ian speaks Russian, Uzbek, Polish, and Mandarin Chinese.
